Rachel Miner - Upper Elementary Literature Teacher
Mrs. Miner has been involved with Literature At Our House since its creation 10 years ago, and she's been teaching the Upper Elementary class for over five years. Watch the video below to get a sense for what it's like to be in one of her classes. The recording is taken from a discussion on The Secret Garden. (Please note, there are spoilers to the book in their discussion.)
Tonya Fingerhut - Lower Elementary Literature and UE Writing Workshop
Mrs. Fingerhut joined our team three years ago and teaches the Lower Elementary Literature Class! I've known Tonya for almost 20 years, many of which we worked together. I've learned so much from her, and I think she's a wonderful teacher.
From Mrs. Fingerhut: "Students, from elementary through high school, have always succeeded in surprising me with their understanding of the world. I love teaching writing because I am constantly rediscovering joys, both great and small, through the work of my students. Being a part of the LitAOH team means I have the opportunity to do meaningful work while exploring a new way of teaching writing.
At Fingerhut Academy Homeschool, I worked with 7th-12th grade students in writing, literature, geology, and art appreciation. At Van Damme Academy, a private school, I taught elementary students math, grammar, literature, and writing."
